After a slow start at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center, our group of nine members moved to the Park. We were then able to identify the scaup and redheads rafting together. On this fine winter day, ten EBS members met at Seneca Lake to find a nice selection of waterfowl. The calm winds and misty sun added to an Arctic vibe with ice floes barely moving. The bird of the day would be Common Goldeneye displaying in the sunshine - throwing their heads back. It was very cold last Saturday morning, and by all signs blustery and snowy as well, so I wasn't expecting much from our outing, but a handful of our battle-seasoned veterans met up at the MWNR Visitors Center for a trip down the east side of Cayuga Lake.
