Van Cleef Lake and environs 12/14/25
Steve and Lori, Lyn, Holly, Allyn, Steve and Linda met at 9am at Van Cleef Lake in Seneca Falls. There was some open water with Canada geese and ring-billed gulls dominating. From there we drove the roads around the Seneca Falls airport where Leslie found us and joined the caravan. She had started at 8. We surveyed the roads between the airport and northern Cayuga Lake. Johnson Rd 12/6/2025
It's not our birdiest field trip of the year but never the less it os always a delight to see the Short-eared owls in the fields on Johnson Road. They never disappoint! Nine of us gathered on the roadside on a cold but mostly calm and snow-free late afternoon. We were treated to some great looks at stationary owls and harriers as well as beautiful views as the birds took flight to hunt the field. Bishop Preserve 11/16/25
Attending: Steve & Lori Van Kirk, Holly Noble, Rich Russell, Lyn Jacobs, Allyn Paul. This was a trip that went from bad to worse in rain intensity. By the time we reached the Canal Trail kiosk, it was pouring. We gathered under the roof, having heard only one chickadee on the way out. We decided to play a Screech-Owl. While there was no audible response, Allyn did see a large bird land in a distant conifer. Species could not be determined. We decided that breakfast would be
