Cayuga Lake East side 1/30/26
It was very cold last Saturday morning, and by all signs blustery and snowy as well, so I wasn't expecting much from our outing, but a handful of our battle-seasoned veterans met up at the MWNR Visitors Center for a trip down the east side of Cayuga Lake. Present were: Kevin A, Allyn P, Leslie P, Pete S, and Steve & Lori VK. Sodus Point 1/18/2026
It was a small group but a lot of fun when we met up at the Sodus Point Lighthouse last Sunday (1-18-25). No matter what conditions you find there, it's always beautiful. On this sunny, briskly windy, 24° morning, three to five foot white-capped swells on the lake weren't powerful enough to keep us off the pier, although it was completely sheathed in ice, so only the most doughty among us braved it. Van Cleef Lake and environs 12/14/25
Steve and Lori, Lyn, Holly, Allyn, Steve and Linda met at 9am at Van Cleef Lake in Seneca Falls. There was some open water with Canada geese and ring-billed gulls dominating. From there we drove the roads around the Seneca Falls airport where Leslie found us and joined the caravan. She had started at 8. We surveyed the roads between the airport and northern Cayuga Lake.
