Sodus Point 1/18/2026

It was a small group but a lot of fun when we met up at the Sodus Point Lighthouse last Sunday (1-18-25).
No matter what conditions you find there, it's always beautiful. On this sunny, briskly windy, 24° morning, three to five foot white-capped swells on the lake weren't powerful enough to keep us off the pier, although it was completely sheathed in ice, so only the most doughty among us braved it. (See photo, below, for an indicaton.)
Allyn Paul, Becky Rooney (from Tennessee, so if we thought it was cold...), and Andrew, Steve & Lori VanKirk met up to see what we could see.
Turns out that it wasn't all that much, but a few species proved to be reliable.
Our next outing is Saturday, 1-31. Meeting at 9AM at the MNWR Visitors Center for a trip down the east side of Cayuga lake.
Contact me a 315-246-6260 for more information.
We'll see you out there!
