North end of Seneca Lake 02/15/26
On this fine winter day, ten EBS members met at Seneca Lake to find a nice selection of waterfowl. The calm winds and misty sun added to an Arctic vibe with ice floes barely moving. The bird of the day would be Common Goldeneye displaying in the sunshine - throwing their heads back. The Redheads and scaups were very far away when we first arrived, but later came closer. Cayuga Lake East side 1/30/26
It was very cold last Saturday morning, and by all signs blustery and snowy as well, so I wasn't expecting much from our outing, but a handful of our battle-seasoned veterans met up at the MWNR Visitors Center for a trip down the east side of Cayuga Lake. Present were: Kevin A, Allyn P, Leslie P, Pete S, and Steve & Lori VK. Sodus Point 1/18/2026
It was a small group but a lot of fun when we met up at the Sodus Point Lighthouse last Sunday (1-18-25). No matter what conditions you find there, it's always beautiful. On this sunny, briskly windy, 24° morning, three to five foot white-capped swells on the lake weren't powerful enough to keep us off the pier, although it was completely sheathed in ice, so only the most doughty among us braved it.
