It's not our birdiest field trip of the year but never the less it os always a delight to see the Short-eared owls in the fields on Johnson Road. They never disappoint! Nine of us gathered on the roadside on a cold but mostly calm and snow-free late afternoon. We were treated to some great looks at stationary owls and harriers as well as beautiful views as the birds took flight to hunt the field. Bishop Preserve 11/16/25
Attending: Steve & Lori Van Kirk, Holly Noble, Rich Russell, Lyn Jacobs, Allyn Paul. This was a trip that went from bad to worse in rain intensity. By the time we reached the Canal Trail kiosk, it was pouring. We gathered under the roof, having heard only one chickadee on the way out. We decided to play a Screech-Owl.
