This was a trip that went from bad to worse in rain intensity. By the time we reached the Canal Trail kiosk, it was pouring. We gathered under the roof, having heard only one chickadee on the way out. We decided to play a Screech-Owl. While there was no audible response, Allyn did see a large bird land in a distant conifer. Species could not be determined. We decided that breakfast would be a better option and headed back to the cars, hearing a few more birds on the return trip. Lyn Jacobs
