Beechwood SP 3/12/26

We ended up with two start times due to my changing the location and time of the field trip.

Allyn, Kate, Steve and I arrived at 8:00 and were treated to watching a beaver swim across the creek, get out on the bank and groom itself. Steve B. got a good photo through the scope and will post it on the website. http://eatonbirds.webs.com/

Leslie, Lori and Steve V. arrived before 8:30 and we had a fun day with 43 species. The day was greyer than we would have liked and later the wind came up, but it didn't stifle our enthusiasm.

High points were looks at a

  • Pine Warbler

  • both Ruby-crowned and Golden-crowned Kinglets

  • great looks at Hermit Thrushes, 4 in all, pictures on website

  • hundreds of Bonaparte's Gulls out on the lake

I didn't regret changing the location and, as usual, we had a great time sharing with our group. Nick's was our choice for a meal for the Eatin' Society part of the day.
