Keuka Outlet trail 7/20/25

Hello all!  Eight EBS bird club members met at the Hopeton Rd parking lot on Sunday July 20 for the Keuka Outlet Trail outing. Paul English and I had been scouting this portion of the outlet trail and had found a Ruby-throated Hummingbird at the nest site. So we wanted to see that first, and headed east on the trail.  Once at the site, everyone was able to see the female at the lichen nest.  So special!

We then headed back west, with most birds being heard not seen. Several members had good looks at a Scarlet Tanager.  At the parking lot we decided to drive further west to the Cascade Falls parking lot and bird watch heading east toward the falls.  We did make a brief stop on Hopeton Rd at the large pile of dirt (sheared off on one end) at a farm that has Bank Swallows nesting there.

It proved to be a very nice morning in spite of the mosquitoes. Thank you to everyone who participated and thank you Lyn for keeping the lists.
