Greetings, Five of us (Lyn, Steve & Lori, Kevin, Holly) braved the constant rain on the field trip last Sunday and actually did quite well. There were times I wished I had my kayak. If Steve B had been there with his whitewater boat, he could easily have run Naples Creek all the way from the south end of the park to 245. It was roaring. What was even more amazing was the amount of water flowing through the woods and channeling on the trails. My knee high muck boots were submerged 3/4 of the way to the top at times.
Bird highlights included eight warbler species - Blue-winged gave us the best looks at the "clearing" on the middle trail. Three Great Blue Herons flew in tight formation along the creek, never observed that before. Thanks go to Holly for the photos.
