OP Phelps 5/18/25

It was a cold and windy morning, but 14 hardy birders set out to see what we could find. (Lyn, Holly, Kevin, Paul, Lori & Steve, Steve & Linda, Yang, Lynn, Kathy, Saralinda, Inge, and her granddaughter Jasmine)

We first encountered a House Sparrow with nesting material, then an American Robin working on a nest. We all thought that was pretty good for one day, but then we came upon an Oriole weaving its nest. 'Tis the season!

It was hard work just to get eyes on the birds, and leafed-out trees blowing in the wind did not help. The Blackpoll Warbler was most frustrating; heard plain as day, but could not be seen!  A couple of folks got up close and personal with an Indigo Bunting. For most of us, the highlight of the day was a little group of Bay-breasted Warblers treating us to great looks at the end of our walk. Thank you to all who came, and a special thank you to Lyn Jacobs for keeping the list - it was a fun morning. Hope to see you all next Saturday at Hanley Preserve.
